Staff
Albany Preschool is extremely proud of our outstanding and dedicated teaching staff and administration, some of whom were once themselves parents of Albany Preschool students. Our staff meet all state requirements for their positions and every member has many years of experience working with children. As a cooperative preschool, our students’ learning environment is also enriched by the loving involvement of parent volunteers in the classroom. You can learn a bit about our staff below, but more importantly, please come and visit so that we can meet you in person!
Teacher Nancy – Director
Nancy has worked in education for over 35 years and loves the sense of history, community and the “powered by play” philosophy of Albany Preschool. She has been a director for both elementary and preschool programs, including at the Discovery Museum and the Hyde Street Pier. She lives in Larkspur and is active in the community. She spends her weekends digging and weeding in the Community Garden, hiking Mt. Tamalpais, reading and kayaking. Nancy earned her BA and Masters from San Francisco State University.

Teacher Nighat
Nighat has been a part of Albany Preschool for over 27 years, first as a parent participator while her children attended, then as a substitute, and finally as a teacher. Nighat believes that preschool is fundamentally important to build the social skills children need to help them in the future. She appreciates that Albany Preschool is a very close-knit community, creating a unique and wonderful learning environment for the children.
Teacher Suzy – (photo coming soon)
Suzy began her education career as a grade-school teacher in Mexico and moved into early childhood education after coming to California. She enjoys seeing young children’s natural curiosity develop into an active, hands-on learning exploration of the world around them. Through play and games Suzy naturally incorporates Spanish into activities.
Ebba de la Rosa – Administrative Coordinator
Ebba first became involved in Albany Preschool as a parent participator when her twins enrolled and soon after joined the school’s board as Membership Chair. In 2013 she returned as a staff member to manage enrollment and administrative tasks. Ebba earned a BA from University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Masters from Arizona State University. She appreciates that through the school she has gotten to know so many families in the community.
